Flights e-Journal (issue nine)

Welcome to issue nine of Flights in which you will find an outstanding range of poetry, and we are glad to say, slightly more prose.

In the two years since Flights took off we have been stunned by the range and quality of the work submitted to us for publication. We would like to thank all contributors past and present for sharing their words with us, their creativity and passion. We would like to remind all contributors to read our submission guidelines please. It may not seem that inconvenient to you to embed your poem in the email rather than attach it as a document but we ask for attachments for a good reason.

We are pleased to say that for the second year we will be creating an anthology of the best of poetry we have published in Flights and we will be announcing the names of those who will have work included in that very soon. Sadly, we aren’t able to create an accompanying anthology of prose and flash as we simply have not had enough. Hopefully this will change.

We have also just opened a competition with the theme of Comfort Zone. The winners will have their work published in one of two (yes, two) anthologies as we are inviting both poetry and flash fiction entries. The competition is open until midnight on the 31st July and you can find out all the details here

Finally, we are delighted to have already published three single author poetry collections this year, most recently Emma Clowsley’s Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush and in August we will publish a novella in flash by Steve Smythe – The Night Shift. Submitting to Flights, attendance at our spoken word events or membership of The Flight are the ways in which we might see your work and possibly end up asking you if you have a pamphlet, collection or novella that is looking for a publisher.

Once again, thanks for showing up to read Flights e-journal, if you like it, tell your friends.

All the very best
